Santa Caterina and Street Food
The Streetfood tour will show you the old part of the town with its best monuments.
After a stop at Quattro Canti and the Baroque Church of San Giuseppe dei Teatini we’ll walk to the Pretoria Fountain with its long history,
then you’ll visit S.Caterina Church in Piazza Bellini and you’ll see a magnificent view of the city from its roofs, at the end you’ll try some of their typical sweets in the pastry.
You’ll visit the courtyard of the ancient Theatines convent, now Law University and you’ll see the commemorative stone for Falcone and Borsellino judges. Then we’ll get inside Ballarò market, with its narrow streets and its vendors with their typical stalls, beginning to enjoy the scents and voices of Palermo markets.
During the visit you’ll eat at different typical street vendors and you’ll see how they make our traditional food, like bread with panelle (rectangles of chickpeas flour fried), the cazzilli (potatoes croquettes),the sfinciuni (sort of thick pizza with tomatoes, onions and oregan), all dishes that are part of the poor gastronomy in Palermo, served with a Gazzosa, a typical Sicilian soft drink.
